Driving

There are plenty of car hire options from all airports.

If you are driving from the UK you can avoid lengthy queues at toll booths by using an Emovis-Tag. This allows you to drive straight through specific lanes and the cost of the toll is then debited directly from your bank account. You can sign up for this service here,

www.emovis-tag.co.uk

*NB. During the winter DO NOT drive to Tignes via Chamonix & the Mont Blanc tunnel. This route may look faster and your satnav may want to send you that way however, you will be routed over the Col du Petit St Bernard which will be closed & under several meters of snow.

In bad weather, snow chains are compulsory so please be prepared.

Train

Direct from London St Pancras International to Bourg St-Maurice. You can then get the bus or a taxi to Tignes which takes about 40 minutes.

Arriving at the apartment

During the week before you travel, you will be contacted by our agent, Tignes Angels in order to make arrangements to meet at the apartment and hand over the keys.  Tignes Angels is run by Vikki Taylor so you will be met either by Vikki or one of her members of staff when you arrive. They will make arrangements with you to hand the keys back at the end of your stay.

Parking your car in Tignes

Parking outside the apartment is permitted for 30 minutes in order to load & unload baggage. Leaving your car on the roads in Tignes for any length of time may result in it being towed away with a release fee of several hundred Euros.

Underground public parking is available nearby & costs €82 per week. Book online at www.tignes.net and select "LAC 3" as this is closest to the apartment.

Resort bus service

Tignes operates a free bus service which runs from Tignes 1800, through Le Lavachet & Le Lac then on to Val Claret Grande Motte. The timetable is shown at every bus stop in resort.

Lift pass

1 day pass for Tignes only (150km of pistes) costs €47

You can buy a “Fresh Tracks” pass for about €16 which gives early access to Grand Motte Glacier in the company of a pisteur, at 8.30 on Wednesdays with coffee & croissant, from Christmas to Easter.

During the summer, lift passes for pedestrians and mountain bikes are free of charge.

Ski / Snowboard hire

The closest equipment hire shop is www.ski-republic.com

Ski / Snowboard lessons

There are far too many ski & snowboard schools in Tignes to list here. We also haven't had lessons for a long time & we're not in a position to recommend any so click here for a link to the Tignes resort website and the full list of schools available. All schools meet in the centre of Tignes le Lac which is 200 meters away from the apartment.

Restaurants

These are our favourite restaurants, best first…

www.couloirbartignes.com

www.braserobartignes.com

Bars

www.loopbartignes.com - Great for apres and then later on in the evening with DJ's & live music. Good food and a large terrace that's fantastic when the sun is shining.

www.themarmotarms.com - Always popular for apres. Excellent burgers!

www.facebook.com/Lembuscadetignes - Just below the apartment. Very French & we love it.

Supermarkets

There’s a Carrefour supermarket just across the road from the apartment which stocks everything you’ll need however, supplies in Tignes are more expensive than they are lower down the mountain. If you have a lot to buy, it may be worth stopping off at Super U, just across the road from McDonalds in Bourg St Maurice.

MyTignes

We can supply MyTignescards during the summer. This allows you to enjoy more than 20 sporting activities for free. Full details here, https://mytignes.tignes.net/
